A bottle of Suntory Whisky Hibiki 12 Years Old Japanese Blended Whisky next to its purple and black packaging box, set against a plain white background.

Rare and collectable whisky, wine and spirits — online in Australia at Whisky Wine Sake. This is the shelf we're proudest of: limited releases, discontinued bottlings, single casks and allocations that most shops never see. When it's gone here, it's usually gone everywhere.

What earns a place here

Genuine scarcity — not marketing scarcity. Japanese age-statement whiskies that distilleries no longer produce, single-cask Australian malts bottled a few hundred at a time, limited-edition Scotch, cellar-release wines and spirits from closed or paused distilleries. These are the bottles that collectors trade, auction houses track and enthusiasts regret missing — usually about a year after they sell out.

Buying rare, sensibly

Two rules. First: if you see it and want it, decide fast — rare stock doesn't do second chances. Second: buy bottles you'd be happy to drink, because the only guaranteed return on whisky is in the glass. Collectors chasing specific categories should watch our Japanese whisky and Australian whisky pages too, where allocations land first — and everyone else should sign up to our newsletter, because the best bottles never make it to a second email.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are Japanese age-statement whiskies so collectable?

Production of aged stock simply ran out during the global boom — many age statements were discontinued entirely, making existing bottles finite by definition.

Is rare whisky a good investment?

The right bottles have appreciated strongly for years — but treat it like any collectable market: buy what you love, keep provenance (we're happy to help), and never bank on it.

How should I store collectable bottles?

Spirits upright, cool, dark and stable; wine on its side under the same conditions. Sunlight and heat are the enemies of value.

Do you ship rare bottles safely?

Yes — carefully packed, fully insured transit Australia-wide, free NSW shipping over $150 and click and collect from Enmore Road if you'd rather carry it home yourself.
