Ichiro's Malt Double Distilleries Pure Malt Japanese Whisky
DESCRIPTION:
Ichiro’s Malt Double Distilleries is a distinctive Japanese pure malt whisky bringing together whisky from two generations of the Akuto family: malt from the now-closed Hanyu Distillery and younger whisky from Chichibu Distillery, founded by Ichiro Akuto himself. The combination gives this bottling a fascinating connection to both the history and modern revival of Japanese whisky.
The nose is rich and aromatic, showing sweet wood, honeyed malt, pear and green apple alongside floral notes. On the palate, gentle spice develops with cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger, balanced by honey, vanilla, oak and a touch of dried fruit. The influence of Mizunara Japanese oak adds an elegant woody character, while the older Hanyu whisky brings extra depth and structure.
Bottled at 46% ABV, this is a non-age-statement whisky with a dry, lingering finish. Notes of bittersweet oak, liquorice, ginger and mint remain on the palate, giving the whisky a refined balance between sweetness, spice and Japanese oak. A highly characterful expression for those interested in the history and craftsmanship of Japanese whisky.
