Why is Pinot Noir more expensive than other reds?

Low yields and high risk. Pinot's thin skins make it vulnerable to weather and disease, it demands cool, marginal sites, and it punishes shortcuts in the winery — so there's simply less good Pinot per hectare than almost any other variety.

Should Pinot Noir be served chilled?

Lightly, yes — 14–16°C is ideal, which means 20–30 minutes in the fridge. Its delicate aromatics blur when served at warm Australian room temperature.

What food pairs with Pinot Noir?

The classic matches are duck, salmon, mushrooms and roast chicken — anything savoury but not heavy. It's arguably the most food-versatile red wine of all.

Is Australian Pinot Noir as good as Burgundy?

The top Mornington, Yarra and Tasmanian producers now stand comparison with good village and premier cru Burgundy — usually at a fraction of the price. Burgundy still owns the stratosphere; Australia owns the value.
