Buy Moscato online in Australia at Whisky Wine Sake. Sweet, lightly fizzy and low in alcohol, Moscato is wine at its most joyful — grapes, sunshine and not a hint of pretension.

What Moscato actually is

Made from the ancient Muscat grape — one of the few varieties that genuinely tastes like the fruit it came from — Moscato is bottled early to keep its natural sweetness, gentle spritz and low alcohol (usually 5–8%). The benchmark is Moscato d'Asti from Piedmont, Italy: delicate fizz, white peach, orange blossom and musk. Australian versions, including popular pink Moscato styles, lean juicier and more playful. Either way it's the lightest, easiest glass in the shop.

When Moscato wins

Brunch, dessert, spicy food and hot afternoons. Its sweetness cools chilli heat better than beer, it's the classic partner for fruit tarts and panna cotta, and at half the alcohol of regular wine it suits long lunches perfectly. Serve icy cold — 6°C or colder — and drink it young. For drier bubbles, cross over to Champagne & sparkling; for aromatic but dry whites, try Riesling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Moscato very alcoholic?

No — typically 5–8% ABV, roughly half a standard wine. That's part of its charm.

Is Moscato the same as Prosecco?

No — Prosecco is dry and fully sparkling; Moscato is sweet with only a gentle frizzante spritz. Different grapes, different moods.

What food goes with Moscato?

Spicy Asian dishes (the sweetness tames chilli), fresh fruit, brunch dishes and lighter desserts. It's also lovely solo as an aperitif.
