Why does Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc taste so distinctive?

Cool nights, intense sunshine and stony soils concentrate the grape's aromatic compounds — nowhere else produces that signature passionfruit-and-cut-grass intensity at the same level.

Is Sauvignon Blanc sweet or dry?

Almost always bone dry. The tropical fruit aromas can read as 'sweet' on the nose, but there's virtually no sugar in the wine itself.

Should I cellar Sauvignon Blanc?

No — with rare exceptions (oaked styles, top Sancerre), it's best within two to three years of vintage, while the aromatics are vivid.

What food pairs best with Sauvignon Blanc?

Goat's cheese is the textbook match, followed by shellfish, sushi, salads and herb-driven dishes. Its acidity cuts through richness and refreshes the palate.
