Suntory Yamazaki Mizunara Oak Cask 18 Year Old Single Malt Japanese Whisky (700ml) - 2017 Edition
DESCRIPTION
“I wanted to reveal the whisky’s soul that is the ‘Art of Mizunara’, a heightened sense and awakened palate engaged through aromas and flavours never known before. Encountering it should be a moment of epiphany,” said Fukuyo.
Suntory Yamazaki Mizunara Oak Cask 18 Year Old represents a pinnacle of Japanese whisky craftsmanship. Master blender Shinji Fukuyo meticulously selects whiskies aged 18 years and beyond with select components exceeding 50 years. Matures them exclusively in casks crafted from Mizunara, Japan's indigenous oak. This rare varietal was adopted by Suntory following World War II when foreign oak supplies became scarce. Though historically challenging to work with, Mizunara's distinctive character has become highly prized, imparting subtle notes of incense, sandalwood, and aloeswood that develop only after decades of maturation.
The 2017 edition commands exceptional rarity and prestige, with historical market valuations reaching AUD $10,000 per bottle in Japan. Each bottle arrives in an elegant presentation case crafted from recycled Suntory casks, underscoring the brand's commitment to heritage and sustainability. These limited releases rarely return to market.
