“Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whiskey is barely enough.” ~ Mark Twain

Buy whisky online in Australia at Whisky Wine Sake. Ours is one of the country's more obsessive whisky ranges — Scotch single malts, Japanese whisky, Australian and American drams, Irish whiskey, blends and rare, collectable bottlings, all chosen by people who actually drink the stuff.

A world of whisky in one place

Every great whisky nation has its own accent. Scotch spans the smoke and iodine of Islay through to honeyed Speyside elegance. Japanese whisky takes the Scottish blueprint and polishes it to a quiet, precise shine. American whiskey — bourbon, Tennessee and rye — brings sweet corn richness, char and spice. And Australian whisky is the exciting upstart, with Tasmanian and Melbourne distillers like Sullivans Cove, Lark and Starward winning world titles with wine-cask-matured malts.

How to choose your next bottle

Think in flavours, not labels. After something soft and approachable? Look to Irish whiskey, Speyside malts or Japanese blends. Chasing richness? Sherry-cask Scotch and bourbon deliver dried fruit, toffee and vanilla. Want adventure? Peated Islay malts and cask-strength or single-cask releases are the deep end — and our rare and collectable shelf is where the unicorns live. Miniatures are a low-risk way to try before committing to a full bottle.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between whisky and whiskey?

Just geography and tradition. Scotland, Japan, Australia and Canada spell it whisky; Ireland and the United States generally add the 'e'. The liquid inside follows each country's own production rules.

What's a good whisky for beginners?

Start smooth: an Irish blend, a Speyside single malt like Glenfiddich or Balvenie, or a Japanese blend like Hibiki Harmony. Save the heavily peated Islay malts for when your palate wants a challenge.

How should I store whisky?

Upright (unlike wine), away from direct sunlight and big temperature swings. Unopened, whisky doesn't age or improve in the bottle — a 12-year-old stays a 12-year-old. Opened bottles are best finished within a year or two.

Is whisky worth collecting?

Limited releases, age statements and closed-distillery bottlings have historically appreciated well — Japanese age statements are a prime example. Buy what you'd happily drink, though; the best 'investment' is a bottle you love either way.

Do you deliver whisky Australia-wide?

Yes — fast, secure delivery across Australia from our Sydney store, with free shipping on NSW orders over $150 and click and collect from Enmore Road.
